All the Ulysses Program participants had completed a one week Foundation Program which was held in Commune at the Great Wall, Beijing, China. All necessary information had been shared by the coaches and the former Ulysses Program participants. All strengths and weakness of each team member had been shared so that "no surprise" should occur during the project. Can you imagine I need to stay together with two people (different background, culture and nationality) with just know for 2 months in a different environment/culture? Based on sharing experience from former Ulysses Program participants, conflicts among the team member is not unusual.
Since my team project is in China, my team has started the project on Monday 18 June 2007. We met the Country Director of the Save the Children ("SC") and discussed the SC's expectation on the project. After spending a few day in Beijing for understanding all projects undertaken by the SC, we were leaving Beijing to Fuyang by train. The train was beyond my expectation since three of us shared a four bed room compartment.
After travelling 10 hours from Beijing to Fuyang, we started the Fuyang project by discussing the income generation program in Xi lojia village with SC - Fuyang. All SC's team are very nice. We are go ing to visit the village on Monday 2 July 2007. We will visit five villages to assess the income generation project implemented in those villages. We will stay in Fuyang for four weeks. After we complete the project in Fuyang, we will go to Hefei for another SC's project.
